Wayland Area Revitalization, Inc (WAR) is a 501c3 non-profit Local Development Corporation, incorporated in the State of New York.

 

 


Wayland is centrally located in the heart of Western New York , providing a gateway to the Finger Lakes.   Cultural, educational & recreational opportunities abound only minutes away.   Enjoy the comfort and safety of small town life with quick and easy access to the jobs and benefits of larger communities and to metropolitan areas such as Rochester and Buffalo. .

Those who live in Wayland and the nearby communities cherish the local ambience~~ the rural character, open space and fresh air that surrounds them and has become essential to their quality of life.

The Agricultural Industry is strong and the surrounding areas boast fertile fields that produce grain and hay for the many beef and dairy farms.  Potatoes, corn, grapes and berries are cash crops that supply local farm markets and grocery stores with organically grown produce.

Streams, lakes and ponds draw fishermen to the area and likewise, the vast areas of woodland brings hunters near and far.  In fact, the revenue from hunting and fishing licenses for Steuben County exceeds every other county in the State.

This area, with its’ rolling hills and scenic setting, overflows with “play time” activities for families and individuals alike.

Stony Brook and Letchworth State Parks are close by for family outings, swimming and camping.  Two ski-snowboarding resorts,  Swain and Bristol, are less than twenty minutes away.  The area also offers winery tours, boating, fishing, swimming, soaring, airplane instruction, cross-country skiing and car racing at Watkins Glen.
